Claim Consultation

Already facing an insurance claim? Don’t navigate the process alone. We help you understand the procedure, the paperwork and the next steps — before or after filing.

What we help with

Clarity at the exact moment it is hardest to find

A claim is usually the first time a policy is read closely — often under pressure. Our claim consultation is designed for that moment.

    • Claim procedures and what happens at each stage
    • Documentation requirements, so nothing is missing
    • Policy-related questions - exclusions, deductibles, waiting periods
    • Insurer communications and what a letter actually means
    • General next-step considerations
    • Where a decision has been received: understanding the reason given
Please note: claim assessment, admissibility, approval and settlement remain subject to the applicable insurer policy terms and relevant requirements. CoverBima does not guarantee claim approval or settlement.
Preparation

Keep these ready before you call

  1. The policy document or schedule

Or at least the policy number and the insurer name.

  2. The claim number

If the claim has already been registered.

  3. What has happened so far

Dates of the event, intimation and any correspondence.

  4. Letters or emails received

Especially anything mentioning a query, shortfall or rejection.

  5. A list of documents submitted

So gaps can be identified quickly.

Typical sequence

How an insurance claim usually moves

  1. Intimation

The insurer is informed. Most policies state a time window, and early intimation avoids avoidable disputes.

  2. Documentation

The insurer or TPA asks for the documents relevant to the claim type. Incomplete sets are the most common cause of delay.

  3. Assessment

A surveyor, medical evaluation or verification is carried out, depending on the claim.

  4. Decision

The insurer assesses admissibility as per the policy terms and communicates approval, part-payment or rejection.

  5. Settlement

Payment is made after applying deductibles, depreciation, co-payment, sub-limits or non-payable items as applicable.

If you receive a rejection or a short settlement

  • Ask for the reason in writing, with the policy clause relied upon
  • Compare the reason with the wording of your policy schedule and terms
  • Reply with the documents or clarifications that address the query
  • Keep a dated record of every call, email and submission
  • Note the insurer’s grievance redressal channel if the query remains unanswered
